The 5 simplest habits that made the biggest difference in my health!

Hi Reader,

For a long time, I thought improving my health meant finding the perfect plan.

The perfect diet. The perfect supplement. The perfect workout routine.

I was constantly looking for the next thing that would finally help me feel my best.

But over the years—and especially through the health challenges I’ve faced, the busy seasons of life, and all the responsibilities that come with being a woman, wife, mother, friend, and professional—I discovered something surprising:

The habits that made the biggest difference in my health weren’t complicated at all.

In fact, they were almost embarrassingly simple.

Today, I wanted to share the five habits that have consistently helped me feel better, have more energy, and stay grounded when life gets overwhelming.

🚶🏽‍♀️Walking Daily

Not intense workouts.

Not hours at the gym.

Just walking.

A simple walk helps clear my mind, reduce stress, improve my mood, and reconnect me with the present moment. Some of my best prayers, ideas, and conversations with God have happened while walking.

🥩Prioritizing Protein

For years, I focused on eating less.

Now I focus on nourishing my body well.

Starting my day with protein helps support my energy, keeps me satisfied longer, and makes it easier to make healthy choices throughout the day.

💦Drinking More Water

I know you’ve heard it before.

But it’s amazing how often the basics get overlooked.

When I’m hydrated, I feel better. My energy is better. My focus is better. My body simply functions better.

✝️Spending Time with God Before the Noise Begins

Even a few quiet minutes in prayer or Scripture can change the tone of my entire day.

Before emails, responsibilities, and distractions start competing for my attention, I try to spend a little time centering my heart on what matters most.

🙋🏻‍♀️Letting Go of Perfection

This one may have been the most important.

I’ve learned that consistency matters far more than perfection.

One healthy meal matters.

One walk matters.

One good night’s sleep matters.

One choice at a time adds up.

You don’t have to do everything perfectly to make progress.

In fact, I think many women are carrying unnecessary pressure when it comes to wellness.

The truth is that your health doesn’t change because of one perfect day.

It changes because of small choices repeated over time.

💪🏼This Week’s Wellness Without the Pressure Challenge

Choose just ONE of these habits and focus on it this week.

Not all five.

Just one.

Maybe it’s taking a 15-minute walk each evening.

Maybe it’s adding protein to breakfast.

Maybe it’s drinking one extra bottle of water each day.

Maybe it’s spending five quiet minutes with God before reaching for your phone.

Pick one small step and let that be enough.

I’d love to hear which habit you choose. Simply hit reply and let me know.

I’m cheering for you.

Love + encouragement,

Hollie Jo🌺

Hi Reader, This week, something really stood out to me. So many women believe wellness has to be big. A complete meal plan. An hour-long workout. A spotless house. The perfect routine. But the older I get, the more I realize that’s rarely how lasting change happens. It happens in five-minute decisions. This week I shared pieces of my own journey—walking, strength training, creating a peaceful home, and simply showing up even when life is busy. None of those things were extraordinary on their...

Hi Reader, Can I tell you something I’ve been thinking about this week? I don’t think most women need another wellness plan. I think we need permission to stop believing we’re failing. So many of us carry this quiet pressure that says we have to meal prep perfectly, work out for an hour, drink enough water, get enough sleep, keep the house clean, take care of everyone else, and somehow still have energy left for ourselves. No wonder we’re exhausted. That’s why everything I’ve shared this week...

Hi Reader, Can I be honest? I think we've made wellness way too complicated. Every day we're told to buy another supplement, follow another diet, try another workout, track your macros, count your calories, or completely overhaul our lives. It's exhausting. The truth is, I've realized that MOST of the things that have helped me the most haven't been complicated at all. A walk outside when I'm tired or stressed. A protein-rich meal instead of reaching for the nearest snack. Going to bed a...
