What if wellness has become too complicated?

Hi Reader,

Can I be honest?

I think we've made wellness way too complicated.

Every day we're told to buy another supplement, follow another diet, try another workout, track your macros, count your calories, or completely overhaul our lives.

It's exhausting.

The truth is, I've realized that MOST of the things that have helped me the most haven't been complicated at all.

A walk outside when I'm tired or stressed.

A protein-rich meal instead of reaching for the nearest snack.

Going to bed a little earlier. (Praise the Lord for bedtime!)

Drinking more water and actually loving how it tastes. (I have secrets!)

Taking a few deep breaths before reacting.

Spending a few quiet minutes with God before the day gets busy and talking to him before I fall asleep.

Simple doesn't mean ineffective. Actually, it can mean the opposite.

In fact, some of the most powerful changes happen when we stop trying to do everything and focus on doing a few things consistently.

That's the direction I'm heading with Island Fox.

Less pressure.

Less perfection.

Less overwhelm.

More simple habits that help us feel better in our bodies, minds, and spirits as we age.

This week, I'd love to challenge you to pick just one small habit and stick with it for seven days.

Not ten habits.

Not a complete reset.

Just one.

I'd love to hear what you choose.

Reply and let me know.

Love + encouragement,

Hollie Jo🌺

Hi Reader, This week, something really stood out to me. So many women believe wellness has to be big. A complete meal plan. An hour-long workout. A spotless house. The perfect routine. But the older I get, the more I realize that’s rarely how lasting change happens. It happens in five-minute decisions. This week I shared pieces of my own journey—walking, strength training, creating a peaceful home, and simply showing up even when life is busy. None of those things were extraordinary on their...

Hi Reader, Can I tell you something I’ve been thinking about this week? I don’t think most women need another wellness plan. I think we need permission to stop believing we’re failing. So many of us carry this quiet pressure that says we have to meal prep perfectly, work out for an hour, drink enough water, get enough sleep, keep the house clean, take care of everyone else, and somehow still have energy left for ourselves. No wonder we’re exhausted. That’s why everything I’ve shared this week...

Hi Reader, For a long time, I thought improving my health meant finding the perfect plan. The perfect diet. The perfect supplement. The perfect workout routine. I was constantly looking for the next thing that would finally help me feel my best. But over the years—and especially through the health challenges I’ve faced, the busy seasons of life, and all the responsibilities that come with being a woman, wife, mother, friend, and professional—I discovered something surprising: The habits that...
